Our Bí Cinealta Student Friendly Policy Leaflet
Bí Cineálta Student Award
The Cineáltas programme was first introduced to schools in 2022 with the Action Plan on Bullying running until 2027 with a specific target to replace any previous anti-bullying policies the school implemented. Centred on the rights of the child, the Cineáltas programme is a whole education community approach that comes together to prevent and address bullying behaviour in our school.
The programme is a combination of UNESCO`s Whole Education Approach in preventing and addressing bullying with the main four principles of Cinealtás: Prevention, support, oversight and community. The experience of bullying is traumatic for children and is in direct opposition to an environment of security and opportunity where wellbeing is a key element of school life.
A new Bí Cinealtas Anti-bullying policy as part of the Cineáltas programme has been implemented in Ballyglass National School since September 2025 and is the specific school policy for preventing and addressing bullying behaviour. The Cineáltas Programme also requires the school to create a child friendly Bí Cinealtas policy which details the same messages as the whole school policy but in a manner that is appealing to students and written in language that is easily understood.
The school has created a designated Bí Cineáltas display board in the school hallway that shows the many initiatives the children so eagerly participate in which promote kindness, fairness and respect among all members of the school community in Ballyglass National School.
